Mother Angaali, The Most Compassionate One
Part 1
(Part 2)
Mother Angaali is the Universal Mother in Her most compassionate form.
Angaali is the endearing, short form of the Mother's full name, Sri Angaala Paramesvari.
The Mother is at once the attribute-less One and the One with infinite attributes.
She is beyond beyond human comprehension and calculation.
But by the grace of a Sathguru, She can be seen, known and merged with.
A devotee can see Her, know Her and merge with Her universality if She decides
to give Her inifinite grace through a Sathguru.
But does the human mind leave it at that? No.
We want to probe. We want to investigate. We want to know that which can't be comprehended by human faculties.
Well, so be it, say the Siddhas, and they offer us a few nuggets that the human mind can understand.
| Q: | Who's Angaali? |
| A: | She's your Mother. |
| Q: | Can you elaborate? |
| A: | Well, She's the very limit of compassion and grace. |
It's in Mother Angaali's temple in Royapuram, Madras that as a young lad the Sathguru, Guru Mangala Gandharva Venkataraman,
used to meet with his divine teacher, Sri Idiyaapa Siddha. Thus one can say that Mother Angali
presided over this most spiritual Guru-Sishya relationship.
The Sathguru would circle the Mother's sanctum 1008 times before meeting with his divine teacher.
Such was his conviction and diligence.
Such was his passion for spirituality.
Such was his yearning to do the Mother's bidding.
Such was his longing to be a sincere disciple.
The Sathguru has described the spiritual secrets that abound in
the Mother's temple. These have been described in part in
Sri Agasthia Vijayam, the Ashram monthly magazine.
These spiritual treasures are always available for spiritual aspirants.
The wise amongst us will make use of them.

The Sathguru, Guru Mangala Gandharva Venkataraman, has composed the Angala Parameswari Andhaadhi,
101 verses on Mother Angaali. This most exquisite composition has been a mainstay
of the Agasthiar Ashramites and others for decades.
This is a "must have" book!
You can get your copy from the Ashram store or from the Sri La Sri Lobha Matha Agasthiar Ashram at Arunachala.
In verse 83, the Sathguru writes:
| In a soft voice, I called out to You |
| The Sathguru You became |
| The mantra forever sounding within |
| The fragrance of fresh jasmine flowers |
| The light of knowledge eternally glowing within |
| As Mother Angaali You cradled me |
| To feed me with the nectar of knowledge. |
Needless to say, our translation can do no justice to the original, but
we couldn't resist the urge to give you a glimpse of the Sathguru's outpouring
of his love for the most compassionate Mother.
Those who read the Sathguru's work unanimously agree that compassion and
Mother Angala Paramesvari are synonymous. Our prayers that all of humankind should
partake of the nectar of spiritual knowledge that Mother Angaali has in store for us.
