Invitation to Arunachala
It gives us great pleasure to invite all of humanity to join the spiritual
throngs at Arunachala during the
great Karthigai Deepam festival from Nov/14/99 to Nov/24/99.
Many are the spiritual works accomplished by the Siddhas in this special time period
and thus it behooves all of us who are spiritually inclined to congregate at Arunachala
during this time.
Maha Guru Sri Agasthiar, the ever present Siddha manifestation of Siva, is the Unknowable One.
That is, unless He allows us to know Him. His divine activities can not be
comprehended by the human mind. But He sometimes gives us a glimpse of His
activities through His divine teacher lineage.
What you're about to read in this article is one such glimpse into His most spiritual world.
Sri Agasthiar is that manifestation of Siva who sports the form of humble devotee, thus
hiding from everyone His unimaginable spiritual powers. This greatest of Masters, the leader of
the Siddhas, the most Glorious One, chooses to disport Himself as a humble devotee. Why?
To teach us that the role of the devotee is the best for spiritual upliftment.
Sri Agasthiar has incarnated Himself 20 billion (20,000,000,000) times in 20 billion forms
for the sake of uplifting all beings.
But behind all these forms is the one and only Aadhi Moola Agasthiar, the One
who is the root cause of all these forms. It's this great Master who visits Kailaasa and Vaikuntha
everyday as a humble devotee of the Lord.
Many are His forms and many are His spiritual works.
What form will He take to appear before us, we may wonder.
But that's the greatest of spiritual secrets! The Sathguru, Guru Mangala Gandharva Venkataraman, has
said many times that the form of a lumberjack (a wood cutter) is one the great Master likes to sport!
Such are the ways of this greatest of Sathgurus.
The Maha Guru's doings are inscrutable; we can not understand them unless He reveals them to us.
But there are certain things which the great Master has allowed humanity to peek into.
And one of these is a glimpse into His spiritual itinerary at Arunachala during the
upcoming Karthigai Deepam festival.
What's so special about the upcoming Deepam festival (Nov/99)? Well, it's during the Karthigai Deepam festival
of the Pramaadhi year (the current year, mid April 1999 to mid April 2000) that Sri Agasthiar
assumes that special posture from which He imparts the knowledge of the Ashta Maa Siddhis, the eight
great powers to His Siddha disciples at Arunachala.
This special posture is known as the Palaasa Bagula Tantra Yoga posture.
It's this posture that you see pictured below.

Seated in this posture, Sri Agasthiar imparts the mantras for Ashta Maa Siddhi, the eight great powers, to His Siddha disciples.

But where will He be in Arunachala? Inquiring minds want to know! He has revealed that Himself.
He'll be in a place called Garuda Nétra Kombu Paarai, a location known
only to the Siddhas.
In this location is a sookshma jothi vriksham, a sacred tree in the subtle spiritual world.
Near this tree is a Ven Naaval tree (also referred to as the Jambu tree in
the subcontinent, Calyptranthes Caryophillifolia,
Calyptranthes Janmbolana, Eugenia Jambos). Near the north seeking roots of this Jambu tree,
in the presence of the intensely spiritual Valam Sanguthri
moolika herb, the great Master will hold court for His Siddha disciples.
At a time known only to the Siddhas, a special Garuda bird known as the Visvaaksha Garuda
will alight on the Garuda Netra Kombu Paarai rock. Sunlight will glint off the neck of this
holy bird on to the sooksham jothi vriksham tree. The energy of these rays will be absorbed by the
Valam Sanguthri moolika herb. It's in middle of this play of naturo spiritual phenomena that Sri Agasthiar
will impart the knowledge of the Ashta Maa Siddhi powers.
From the moment when dharba grass is wrapped around the dhvaja sthambam (flag pole) in the Arunachala temple
and the temple flag unfurled, to the moment when the great jothi flame at the peak of the Arunachala Hill is cooled down,
Sri Agasthiar will remain in this special Tantra Yoga posture and impart the knowledge of the eight great powers
to deserving Siddha disciples.

What happens after this time period? The great Master will sport other yoga postures and will be involved in
other spiritual works. What we need to realize here is that He has revealed His divine itinerary
for the period from Nov/14/99 to Nov/24/99 to us. We should be wise and make use of this opportunity and visit
Arunachala during this time period. Why? Just to breathe the same air that the Master will be breathing.
Just to be physicaly present in the same place as He.
But can we see Him? Can we meet with Him? Only Sri Agasthiar knows. If we're truly sincere
and deserving, surely the great Master will give us the opportunity. But only He know who's
truly sincere and who's truly deserving. All we have to do is be there.
So let's just be there and leave the rest to Him.
What would Sri Agasthiar like for us to do when we're at Arunachala?
| - | He would like for us to perform Giri valam on every one of these days. |
| - | He would like for us to feed the poor and offer selfless service to them. |
| - | He would like for us to pray sincerely for the spiritual upliftment of every one, including ourselves. |
| - | He would like for us to realize that we are not the doers and that Sri Arunachala alone is the doer, the prime mover and the root cause of everything. |
| - | He would like for us to surrender to the Divine Will of Arunachala, the well spring of all spiritual treasures. |
| - | He would like for us to long for a Sathguru, the spiritual representative of Arunachala. |
Be present in Arunachala during this time period.
Perform Giri valam on every one of these days.
Don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to be in close physical proximity to Sri Agasthiar.
In the next few days, we'll provide a lot more information on the importance of
Giri valam on these special days in Nov/99.
To be continued...
