Ashta Prathaapa Giri Valam Days
Eight Special Days at Arunachala
Day 4 - Nov/20/99
The Siddhas have designed a special eight day giri valam worship procedure for this
Pramaadhi year (mid April 1999 to mid April 2000).
This is the Ashta Prathaapa Arunachala Giri Valam worship procedure.
Nov/20/99 is the fourth day of this eight day period.
This issue of AUMzine is dedicated to Lord Arunachala, the ocean of grace
who is the spiritual refuge of one and all.
The Arunachala Muka Darshans are visions of beauty.
Beauty is that which gives us permanent peace and tranquility.
This is the Siddha definition of beauty.
The human kind has a confused notion of beauty.
Humans spend endless hours thinking and dreaming of the opposite sex;
they delude themselves into thinking that beauty is defined by the opposite sex!
But these visions and thoughts lead to an agitated mind, not a tranquil mind.
So how can this be beauty? It doesn't fit the Siddha definition of beauty.
The real example of beauty that transcends all that's know to man is a vision
of Arunachala. The Arunachala Muka Darshans are the true examples of beauty.
Arunachala is the pinnacle of beauty in the entire universe, say the Siddhas.
The Arunachala Muka Darshans give us an indescribable peace.
With this lasting peace, we get clarity of thinking.
And with clarity of thinking, we become ready to be spiritually uplifted.
Faith can do wonders, say the Siddhas. The deeper your faith in Arunachala,
the more beautiful He will appear to you. There's no end to Arunachala's infinite splendor.
The Siddhas remain intoxicated with the infinite beauty of Arunachala, the Lord and Master of the universe.
They invite us to enjoy this beauty through a practice of the giri valam worship procedure.
Devotees believe that Arunachala giri valam can solve whatever problems one may be experiencing.
This is the right thinking, say the Siddhas. The deeper the belief, the greater the rewards, both
material and spiritual.
Take in the beauty and grandeur of Arunachala during your giri valam.
Enjoy each and every Arunachala Muka Darshan to the fullest.
It's these muka darshans that give you the resolute, decisive mind which can march with conviction on
the spirutual path. These darshans give you the clear thinking that's crucial for spiritual upliftment.
Clear thinking is a must for a pure, spiritual mind. Only a pure mind can be a recipient of divine grace.
The true beauty of Arunachala gives us lasting peace. This lasting peace results in clear thinking.
Clear thinking leads us to purity of heart, mind and soul. And a pure soul receives divine grace!
The easiest way to achieve this step by step spiritual advancement is through Arunachala giri valam.
On Nov/20/99, make a garland of
vilvam (Cratæva religiosa) leaves
with your own hands. Carry this garland while performing giri valam.
On the giri valam route, there are five special Nandi deities known as the pancha bootha Nandis.
One of these is Appu Nandi, who represents the water principle.
Offer the garland of vilvam leaves to the Appu Nandi deity.
At this spot prostrate yourself 12 times towards Arunachala and worship Him.
The result of this worship and giri valam on this day is two fold: (1) You'll be blessed with a spouse and children
who are filled with the spiritual attributes of beauty, bakthi and good character. (2) You'll get Arunachala's blessings
to worship the Lord with faith, bakthi, diligence, dedication and conviction.
No devotee of the Lord should miss giri valam on Nov/20/99.
This is the advice of the Siddhas.
