Ashta Prathaapa Giri Valam Days
Eight Special Days at Arunachala
Day 5 - Nov/21/99
The Siddhas have designed a special eight day giri valam worship procedure for this
Pramaadhi year (mid April 1999 to mid April 2000).
This is the Ashta Prathaapa Arunachala Giri Valam worship procedure.
Nov/21/99 is the fifth day of this eight day period.
Arunachala giri valam is our "duty"; fulfilling this duty must be our goal, say the Siddhas.
What's your duty? Many say that caring for their families and doing well in their job at work
are their duties. True, but is this all?
What's your goal? Many say that they have career goals in their professional life and personal goals
in their family and social lives. Some add spiritual goals to this list as well.
Fine, but which one is your top priority?
The Most Important Goal
Before we get bogged down, why not
check with the Siddhas and see what they have to say about goals, duties and all that.
The Siddhas say that we should discharge all of our responsibilities, but our greatest "duty"
is Arunachala giri valam. They say that we should our goals to one: that of performing
Arunachala giri valam as many times as possible. Why? Because Arunachala giri valam is
the easiest formula for achieving everything any one of us can imagine (righteously) in
both the material and spiritual worlds. Just perform Arunachala giri valam and you'll get
whatever you desire. This is the advice of the Siddhas.
Yes, we must do our jobs well and yes, we must provide for and care for our families.
But we should discharge these responsibilities while concentrating on the goal of life: Arunachala giri valam,
the key to all material and spiritual treasures!
The Ultimate Spiritual Practice
Different people desire different things. But Arunachala girivalam can satisfy all these desires and more.
This is why there are an infinity of Arunachala Muka Darshans. Though humans are finite beings, our
desires are infinite! The merciful Lord Arunachala caters to this infinity of desires by blessing us with
an infinity of Muka Darshans. For each specific desire there's a special Arunachala Muka Darshan!
Every divine form is present in Arunachala as various Arunachala Linga Muka Darshans.
Thus Arunachala is the pinnacle of spirituality and Arunachala giri valam is
the ultimate of spiritual practices.
Even within the world of spirituality, different people prefer different techniques.
Some prefer dhyaanam (meditation). Some prefer vratham (fasting) and
pooja (ritual worship) procedures. Some prefer pilgrimages to holy lands.
Some prefer visiting many different temples. The Lord caters to all these different
preferences and blesses us all.
Nirvikalpa Samadhi - Union With God
A particularly important spiritual technique and experience is known as
Nirvikalpa Samadhi, the experience of being united with God. Those in this state
can see the Arunachala Jothi permanently.
Can we attain the Nirvikalpa Samadhi state? Sure, if we follow the appropriate procedure.
In the Kritha yuga, those who meditated on the Padma Garba mantra
for a period of 100 Deva years could reach this state. In the Tretha yuga, one had to meditate on
the Kumara Kaamaroopa mantra for a period of 80 Deva years. In the Dvaapara yuga, if you
meditated on the Sasisekara mantra for 30 Deva years you could reach this exalted state.
But how about Kali yuga, the present age of decadence? Is it possible to attain the blissful
state of Nirvikalpa Samadhi in this day and age? Sure. In fact, it's much easier now than
it's in the other ages, say the Siddhas. Perform Arunachala giri valam for a period of
15 years and meditate on the mantra Thiru Arunachala Siva under the guidance of a true Sathguru
and you'll experience Nirvikalpa Samadhi. This is the word of the Siddhas.
But can Nirvikalpa Samadhi help us with our everyday life?
Certainly, say the Siddhas. Once you have this experience, you'll find that
you can discharge your responsibilities towards your parents, your spouse,
children, friends, relatives and society in a perfect way.
Be that as it may, is it feasible to perform Arunachala giri valam for a period of 15 years?
Why not, ask the Siddhas. Don't we live with diabetes for decades, they want to know.
Don't we suffer through heart problems for decades? Don't we suffer through jobs we hate?
Don't we put up with totally unreasonable bosses? If we can endure these situations for
decades, can we not enjoy the bliss of giri valam for 15 years? Compared to the travails
of human existence, enjoying the bliss of giri valam for 15 years should be a welcome relief,
say the Siddhas. They marvel at this simplest of solutions for getting out of the seemingly
endless cycle of birth and death. Shouldn't we make use of this simple solution? Think about it!
A Day Filled With Yoga Sakthi
Thrayodasi thithi, Asvini
nakshatram - these are the
time characteristics of Nov/21/99.
Arunachala giri valam on this day will lay the foundation for ascending
high states of dhyaanam (meditation). It's a day brimming with yoga sakthi.
Any one interested in making progress with their dhyaanam practice, must do giri valam on this day.
This is the advice of the Siddhas.
