Pushpa Shakti Navaratri - September & October 2006
It is the time of Sharda Navaratri. A time when the spiritual world turns totally towards
the all conquering love of the Universal Mother. Every day of the year is infused with
the love of the Mother, but how many realize this consciously? Thus we have these nine days and nights of
the Mother (nava = nine, ratri = night); nine days and nights for forgetful humankind to concentrate
on this Mother's love that sustains the universe.
The Siddhas have described the special significance of
this Viya year's Navratri festival. They say that the 2006 Viya year Sarada Navarathri is
Pushpa Sakthi Navaratri, a Navaratri where flowers are featured prominently in the
worship, contemplation and celebration of the Mother of the Universe.
The details have been described in the September
2006 issue of Sri Agasthia Vijayam, the Ashram monthly magazine, released in August 2006.
The Mother of Maruthadu
As readers of our magazine and of the daily messages in our sister site Agnisiksha know, Sathguru Venkataraman has been stressing the importance of worshipping Mother Indraprasadavalli.
You can have Mother Indra Prasada Valli's darshan at Maruthadu near the well known town of Melmaruvathur. The temple is 7 km east of Vandavasi, on the Melmaruvathur - Vandavasi route.
The Sathguru has given us the Siddha injunction that each and every woman should have the darshan of Mother Indra Prasadavalli during the Navaratri festival at least once in their lives. It is particularly important to worship Mother Indra Prasada Valli on Fridays, even more so on Navaratri days and that much more so on Navaratri Fridays, say the Siddhas.
This Mother of Maruthadu answered the impassioned plea of Lord Indra and blessed him and us with
1008 different prasada gifts - flowers, mangalya, holy water, kumkumam, vibhuti, turmeric and so on.
The Lord here is Sripuranthareswara. The Mother prayed to Him when She wanted to establish a version of Sripuram on earth. This temple can bless one with the gifts of wealth and prosperity.
The significance of this Viya year's Navaratri is that the Mother blesses the devotees with the results of Friday worship on every weekday of this Navaratri festival. Mahaguru Agasthiar, along with his consort, devotees and disciples, worshipped the Mother here during all nine days and nights of a Navaratri in another age. Indra and the Devas worshipped Mother Indra Prasada Valli and continue to worship Her. Once after worshipping Lord Arunachala, Sri Agasthiar and all the Siddhas arrived at Mother Indra Prasadavalli's sanctum within one nazhigai and worshipped Her. Thus this temple is a favourite of the Siddhas and the Devas. Humans should take note.
Now here is the Siddha procedure for celebrating this 2006 Viya year Pushpa Shakti Navaratri.
Navaratri First Day - Prathamai - Sep.22.2006 & Sep.23.2006
On this first day of the 2006 Viya year Navratri, worship
Mother Pushpavalli of the Brahma gnanapureeswara temple at Korukkai.
Worship Her by offering every kind of fragrant flower. Offer these flowers at
Mother Pushpavalli's holy feet and she will bless you with peace of mind. Can anyone, however rich, buy peace of mind? No! But those who offer loving worship to Mother Pushpavalli, as taught by the Siddhas, will surely find this elusive mental peace.
Navaratri Second Day - Dwithiyai - Sep.24.2006
On this second night of the 2006 Viya year Navratri, worship
Mother Nityakalyani of the Innambur temple near Kumbakonam.
There are two Devis in this temple, Mother Nitya Kalyani and Mother Sugandha kundhalamba.
The Lord's name is Ezhutharivittha Natha, meaning He who taught the alphabet!
Since this Lord, who is in the form of a teacher here, taught Mahaguru Agasthiar the alphabet and more
at this holy kshetra, one should visit this temple on Wednesdays and Thursdays and on Anusha nakshatra days.
This will bless them and their children with the divine gift of mental sharpness and education.
Worshipping Mother Nityakalyani here on this Navaratri Dvitiya night is important, say the Siddhas.
Navaratri Third Day - Trithiyai - Sep.25.2006
On this third night of the 2006 Viya year Navaratri, worship
Mother Neela Malar Kanni, also known as Mother Nellothpala Amba,
of Erukathampuliyur (Rajendrapatnam, 12 km from Vriddhachalam).
A very potent temple, say the Siddhas. A temple where Lord Muruga Himself has offered worship. A temple where the great rishis of Naimisaranya took form as white erukku trees and as moolika herbs and worshipped the Lord and the Mother. On this Navratri Tritiya night, worship the Mother here and be blessed with harmony in your family.
The Siddhas have this advice for those who have offended or who have not taken proper care of their parents or their in-laws. The bad karma arising out of this is not easy to neutralize. So one should be careful in how they treat their parents and in-laws. Their sadness and tears get translated into very difficult karma baggage for you. This is not something to be taken lightly. But what can one do now, after the fact? Search for the karma neutralization solution for this problem by worshipping Mother Snehavalli of the Ajageswara temple in Thiruvaadaanai near Devakottai. Offer garlands that stretch from head to toe for Mother Snehavalli. Your penitence will melt Mother Snehavalli's heart and She will put you on the road to tackling this karma problem.
Navaratri Fourth Day - Chathurthi - Sep.26.2006
On this fourth night of the 2006 Viya year Navaratri, worship
Mother Aranavalli of Thiruvadhavur near Madurai and Melur
and also of the Sri Bhoomeeswara Temple at Sevalur near Pudukottai and Ponamaravathi.
Thiruvadhavur is a holy kshetra where the Mother and Mahavishnu worshipped the Lord.
It is at this scared place that Lord Ganesh gave the world the Chintamani gem.
The faithful devotee, Sri Vyagrapadha Muni, did intense penance and with the shakti of this tapas, he embedded the energy of this Chintamani gem in sacred letters, trees and ponds.
Navaratri Fifth Day - Panchami - Sep.27.2006
On this fifth night of the 2006 Viya year Navaratri, worship
Mother Sahayavalli of Thiruchuzhi, some 50 km from Madurai. The Mother is also known as
Swarnamba, Manikamaalai Uma, Muthumaalai Uma and many other divine names.
The Siddhas advise us that those belonging to the gotra line of Kaundinya Maharishi
must worship at the Thiruchuzhi temple. They must visit this temple at least once
in Uttarayana and once in Dakshinayana. This is a Siddha injunction.
Navaratri Sixth Day - Sashti - Sep.28.2006
On this sixth night of the 2006 Viya year Navaratri, worship
Mother Vaadaa Malar Mangai of Pillaiyarpatti near Thirupathur.
A very powerful manifestation of the Universal Mother.
Offer green silk dress for the alankar of Mother Vaadaa Malar Mangai.
Make a crown of many different kinds of fragrant flowers and offer it to the
Mother with love and devotion. She is the Mother who will wipe away the tears of
earthly mothers who are troubled by their daughters not getting married in time.
She gives them solace and solutions to their worries.
Navaratri Seventh Day - Sapthami - Sep.29.2006
On this seventh night of the 2006 Viya year Navaratri, worship
Mother Maha Sampath Gowri of the Saptharisheeswara temple in Lalgudi near Trichy.
There are moolika herbs that have the power of bestowing wealth. These Dhanakarshana herbs are
known as Maha Sampath Moolika herbs. They are offered in Lakshmi havan to get the
blessing of wealth from Mother Mahalakshmi. But in this shrine, Lakshmi Herself did
pooja to Mother Maha Sampath Gowri with Maha Sampath flowers and was blessed to join hands with
Sri Mahavishnu in marriage.
This is a temple where seven Ganapathis and the seven Saptarishis worshipped.
Kubera worshipped here too. Those who want relief from their money troubles should offer dhanakarshana moolika flowers and garlands made out of such flowers to Mother Maha Sampath Gowri at this temple.
Navaratri Eighth Day - Ashtami - Sep.30.2006
On this eighth night of the 2006 Viya year Navaratri, worship
Mother Nitya Kalyani of the Thirumoolanatha temple in Thirupaathurai near Trichy and of the
Ambasamudram temple. Mother Nityakalyani is also know Mekalambika.
You can reach Thirupaathurai via Thiruvanikaval and Panaiyapuram.
Markandeya Maharishi worshipped at this shrine along with Lord Surya.
Because of Lord Surya's presence, the day got elongated and instead of the usual
six poojas in a day, twelve poojas were performed! Lord Siva intervened and restored days to their
normal duration. Thus, this holy Thirupathurai kshetra
gives one a true understanding of time and clears the illusory veil of Maya.
Navaratri Ninth Day - Navami - Oct.1.2006
On this ninth night of the 2006 Viya year Navaratri, worship
Mother Neelayadakshi of the Kayarohanatha temple in Nagapattinam.
It is a Siddha injuntion that we should have darshan of the four Mothers,
Mother Kanchi Kamakshi (Kanchipuram near Chennai),
Mother Madurai Meenakshi (Madurai),
Mother Kasi Visalakshi (Benares)
Mother Nagi Neelayadakshi (Nagapattinam)
at least three times in our lifetimes.
But in this temple, Karana Maharishi got for us the special boon that if one has darshan of Mother Neelayadakshi first and then visits the other three Mothers, even once would suffice.
Navaratri Tenth Day - Dasami - Oct.2.2006
The tenth night of Navaratri is known as Vijayadasami.
It is the appearance day of Mother Ayur Devi, the Empress of the Universe.
On this tenth night of the 2006 Viya year Navaratri, worship
Mother Swarnavalli of the Muktheeswara temple in Sedhalapadhi near Koothanoor and Kumbakonam.
The Mother is also known as Porkodi Nayaki.
Sri Adi Vinayaka blesses the devotees at this temple.
This is one of the holy places where Lord Rama offered tarpanam to His father Dasaratha.
Thus it is also a great place for doing tharpan pooja for your ancestor pitru beings.
It is a place of atonement for those who have not performed regular tarpan pooja for their pithrus.
Such people can get relief from pitru doshas at this temple.
The Siddhas advise us to continue the worship of the Universal Mother throughout the 2006 Navaratri fortnight. Details of worship for the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th days will be added soon. Please visit this page again.
