Click here for Navratri 2008 - Saptha Maathaa Shakti Navaratri.
The Sharada Navaratri of the Sarvajit Year spans the period from October 11, 2007 to October 20, 2007 covering
the nine thithis from Prathamai to Navami.
Please consult the Agasthiar Panchang for the exact dates in your
location.
The Siddha worship procedures for this Navratri festival, as communicated by Sathguru Venkataraman, have been described in detail in the October
2007 issue of Sri Agasthia Vijayam, the Ashram monthly magazine, released in September 2007.
We offer these worship procedures in summary form below for the benefit of devotees worldwide.
Nine Great Maharishis and Their Consorts at Nine Temples
The special feature of the Sarvajit Navaratri of 2007 is the participation of nine great Maharishis and their
consorts in this year's Navaratri pooja. The sincere observance of this year's Navratri puja can bestow
longevity and good character on one's husband, say the Siddhas.
Though the maharishis worship the Mother at
numerous temples, the Siddhas mention nine important temples at which devotees should focus their
attention during the nine days of this 2007 Navaratri.
The selfless maharishis do not keep their spiritual powers for themselves.
Rather they offer it to humanity at large for the welfare of the world.
Keep in mind that the nine great maharishis and their consorts will embed
the power of their pooja in nine kinds of auspicious objects
(turmeric, kumkum, mirror, lamps, bangles, toe rings, beauty products, etc.)
and distribute it selflessly through the medium of these objects.
The Sathguru has told us how the great Lord Ram Himself
instructed Mother Sita to serve the wives of great Maharishis and get from them the blessing of ever glowing
auspiciousness. Mother Sita faithfully carried out this instruction and thereby was blessed
to become the very symbol of pativrata and mangala shakti.
If Sri Ram could instruct Mother Sita thus, is it not an instruction that we should follow too?
So how do you partake of this blessing
from the maharishis and their consorts? By doing the following: (1) Without any consideration of
race, caste, religion or nationality, offer padha puja to nine elderly couples (past their 80th anniversary)
on all nine days and donate nine different types of auspicious objects to poor sumangalis (2) Serve your parents and elders (3) Do go puja (4) Offer sincere worship to the Mother Goddess throughout the nine days
as mentioned below.
These simple procedures will win the blessings of the great Maharishis and their consorts for you, say the Siddhas.
Navaratri 2007 (i)
Mother Mutthambika and Sri Ardhanareeswara at Rishivandiyam
The first of the nine temples for the 2007 Sarvajit year Navratri is the
Mother Mutthambika and Sri Ardhanareeswara temple at Rishivandiyam.
Rishivandiyam is on the Thiru Annamalai - Thirukoyilur - Kallakurichi route.
It is a place where 30 million rishis practised their spiritual austerities.
When milk abhishekam is performed for the Lord here, one can see the form of the Divine
Mother on the Lord's form.
There is a potent thirtha pond in this temple. The waters of this pond were
used by the rishis for their sandhya and argya pujas. So blessed is this
tirtha that 600 million tirtha devata spiritual beings visit this pond in their
subtle forms on every Magha nakshatra day.
So sacred is this Rishivandiyam kshetra that it is an eternal law that every
rishi and his consort must reside in this place for a minimum of 60 years
and offer themselves as an example of how a man and woman should live together
on a spiritual foundation of holiness.
This is one of the holy places where Sukanya Devi observed Navaratri along with her
husband Cyavana Maharishi.
The Siddhas advise us that those worried about their husband's longevity
should offer worship at this temple every month.
Draw kolam (rangoli) designs using rice flour in this temple.
Light earthen lamp diya jyotis using wicks made of lotus stalk and cotton.
Give toe rings and bangles in charity to poor sumagalis and worship
the Universal Mother Mutthambika here with sincerity and devotion.
Navaratri 2007 (ii)
Mother Kumkumavalli and Sri Saptharisheeswara Temple
at Thiruthalaiyur
The second temple for Navaratri 2007 is the
Mother Kumkumavalli and Sri Saptharisheeswara temple
at Thiruthalaiyur near Thuraiyur in the Trichy district.
One of the Saptarishis, Gautama offered worship here along with his wife Ahalya Devi.
This temple is one of those where the potencies
present at the incarnation of Sri Veerabhadra are present.
In the Lord's sanctum here, one can see a special jyoti effulgence.
The Siddhas advise us that those afflicted by cowardice, bad habits, enmity and anger
can find a resolution for their problems in this temple.
It is a temple that can help wives whose husbands are thus afflicted.
It can transform them and make them lead reformed lives suffused with mental courage.
The Sapta Rishis have merged themselves in the marudha sthala vruksham (temple tree) of this temple.
The Siddhas say every knot in this tree represents a Brahma Deva.
Thus offering worship to this tree is equal to worshipping numerous Brahma forms.
Wrap new vastra (cloth) around this tree and
apply turmeric, kumkum, vibhuti sacred ash, sandalwood paste and sindoor to this tree.
This sthala vriksha puja here will help your progeny and their progeny too.
It will also help your ancestors.
Furthermore, offer in charity all those beauty products that are worn on the head
(oil, perfume, hair pins, ribbons, bows, head ornaments, flowers, etc.) to poor sumangalis.
Navaratri 2007 (iii)
Mother Aranambika and Sri Agastheeswara Temple at Ozhalur
The third temple for Navratri 2007 worship is the
Mother Aaranambika and Sri Agastheeswara temple at Ozhalur near Chengalpet.
This temple is 6 km from the Sakthi Vinayaka temple in Chengalpet
and you can reach it via the Manapakkam Road.
Maha Guru Agasthiar himself and his consort Lobha Matha
offered Navarathri worship at this temple. The Sathguru has taught us that
Maha Guru Agasthiar does daily puja at every temple where the Lord's name is Agastheeswarar.
Mother Aaranambika resides in all auspicious objects like mangalya, bangles, lamp jyotis, etc.
So the more auspicious objects used for worship here, the more auspiciouness there will be in
society.
Lord Muruga in this shrine helped Sri Agasthiar to arrange lamp diyas to the height of
two palm trees! The grateful Maha Guru Agasthiar then had darshan of the Uttiramerur Ashtanga Vimana
through the jyoti flames of these lamps.
Arrange lamp diyas in a star shaped form and offer worship here.
Offer in charity objects connected with fire like vessels for cooking,
fuel for cooking, oil, etc. This will make auspicious energy shine forth like the
striking effulgent glow of a fire.
Navaratri 2007 (iv) Mother Bhoolokanayaki and Sri Bhoolokanatha Temple at Keezhkovilpathu
The fourth temple for Navratri 2007 worship is the
Mother Bhoolokanayaki and Sri Bhoolokanatha Temple at Keezhkovilpathu.
This temple is located 22 km from Thanjavur near the village of Ammapettai.
This is a Vaasthu shakti temple and a mantra shakti temple.
It is also important for those working with
metals, metallurgical processes
and material sciences in general.
Furthermore, it is one of the temples that governs magnetic force.
Because of the confluence of prithvi, vasthu, metal and magnetic shaktis in this temple,
it is an ideal place of worship for those involved in building vehicles,
industrial implements and in general, machinery of all kinds.
Bharadwaja Maharishi observed the Navratri
vow here along with his consort. Arjuna, the great warrior, offered Ayudha puja
in this temple.
worship here on Ayilyam nakshatra day will help recovery from illness and also
confer blessings on doctors and those involved in medical research.
Maharishi Atri and his consort Anasuya Devi installed Lord Ganesh
under the Vanni tree here and offered Navratri worship here.
They have selflessly offered the results of this puja power to
those who worship here on the eight Vastu days every year.
Those desirous of owning houses, factories, shops, lands and
such farms should offer worship here on all eight Vaasthu days,
on Tuesdays and on Bharani, Arudra, Aayilyam, Magha, Pooram, Vishaka,
Moolam, Pooradam and Pooratadhi days. They should worship
Mother Bhoolokanayaki and Lord Bhoolokanayaka by offering
a sacred oil kaappu made of eight different oils.
They should perform anga pradakshinam and thus bring their
entire physical bodies in contact with the sacred ground of this temple.
Worship here will also help those whose houses, lands and properties
are tied up in court cases. There is a special moolika herbal garland
known as Nava mani nal vara moolika mani maala. Offer this to
Lord Bhoolokanatha on consecutive days and feed the poor with foods
made of roots and tubers like potatoes, yam, etc. This worship will
help families who have lost their houses or landed properties.

particularly on Sundays and Sapthami thithis.

The sixth temple for Navaratri 2007 is the
Mother Advaita Nayaki and Sri Sargunalingeswara Temple at Marudhaanallur (Karukudi).
It is on the Kumbakonam - Valangaiman route.
Maharishi Cyavana offered worship here with his consort Sukanya Devi.
Sukanya Devi was a princess in the lineage of Surya.
At that time, Maharishi Chyavana was engaged in intense penance for years.
An anthill grew around the motionless rishi.
The child Sukanya was playing around this ant hill once
when her father, the king, was camped there.
Because of the intensity of the maharishi's penance, a divine radiance emanated
from the ant hill where he was seated. The curious Sukanya
followed the source of the light and playfully poked the holes in the ant hill
with a stick, thus blinding Cyavana. To atone for this sin, the princess
married the blind rishi, cared for him and became one of the greatest examples
of pativrata shakti. As a result of her service, the maharishi's eyesight was
restored and the name of Sri Sukanya Devi is forever enshrined in the annals of
spirituality as a glorious guide for women everywhere
just like Sri Anasuya and Sri Arundhati.
Mother Advaita Nayaki and Kalyana Nayaki grace this temple.
This is a gnana shakti temple. Worship here can bless one with
purity in thought, word and deed. Those interested in higher studies
should offer worship here. This temple is also important for those who want their
husbands to quit their evil habits and lead reformed lives.

Mother Akhilandeshwari in Karuvalarcheri.

birthing process, this is an important temple, just like the famous
Garbharakshambika temple.
Maha Guru Agasthiar and his consort Mother Lopamudra Devi (Lobha Matha) offer
worship here on Maha Shivratri and Navratri days.

Mother Adi Parashakti's power of protecting women is a focal point of this temple.

all Navaratri festivals.
The Sapta Rishis (Seven Great Rishis) worshipped the
the Saptha Mathas (Seven Goddesses) in seven temples in this area and made it a
spiritual power center. These seven temples are particularly important for those
girls who have just come of age. They should offer worship at these seven temples
with their own mothers and then involved themselves in regular observance of
Rahu Kala Durga worship
every Tuesday. This will give them the blessing of a happy married life.

this sacred place and offered Navratri worship here.
To get relief from skin related diseases, donate new clothes in charity to children and women
as part of your worship in this temple.
This temple can also offer relief to those afflicted by Shani dasa and Bhukti periods.
For their welfare, Sani Bharani Siddha worships Lord Agastheeswara during
Sani hora hours at this temple.

to intercede on their behalf.

that they are not wealthy enough or educated enough. People who are finding it hard to
get married because of such reasons should visit this temple with their parents
