Sri Theerthapaleeswarar Temple - 2nd of the 7 Saptha Sthaana Shiva Temples in Mylapore, Chennai

Sri Agasthiar This temple is the abode of Sri Theerthapaleeswarar and Mother Tripurasundari. It is an important temple located on Natesan Street in the Triplicane area. In ancient times, there were 64 sacred theertha ponds from this temple leading right up to the nearby sea. It is an argya shakti divya sthala, say the Siddhas. Numerous rishis have performed argya worship here.

We know that our physical body is mostly made up of water. And what is the cause of this physical body? One's previous karmas. Thus having known the cause of this physical body through the grace of Sri Karaneeswara, we carry this physical body over to Sri Theerthapaleeswara's temple for His darshan.

This temple houses the divine energy of Mahaguru Agasthiar teaching the Aditya Hridaya mantra to Lord Sri Rama.

Offering argya worship and feeding the poor with food in liquid form (gulab jamun, payasam, panagam, etc.) are ideal worship methods in this temple.
