Dec 2 and Dec 3, 2008:
Kucchara Maharishi and Garga Maharishi
On Dec 2, 2008 and Dec 3, 2008, Kuchara Maharishi and Garga Maharishi will do Arunachala Girivalam.
How did Kucchara Maharishi attain his exalted state? Sathguru Venkataraman taught us that it was through intense penance in the temple of Mother Sri Madhura Vachanambika (Then Mozhi Paavai) and Lord Sri Kozhundheeswara in Kottur.
How about Garga Maharishi? He is the great one who named Lord Sri Krishna Himself! Sathguru Venkataraman said that he achieved this exalted position of naming Krishna Himself through penance and worship over many aeons at the sacred spot known as
the Dwaraka of the South (Dakshin Dwaraka), Lord Sri Gopinatha Perumal Temple of Patteeswaram, also known as Kona Perumal Temple. Here one can still see the "descendants" of the Rama Sita twin palm trees near which Sri Krishna once meditated with Garga Maharishi, his family Guru.
The Beeja Akshara of Kucchara Maharishi, as revealed to us by Sathguru Venkataraman, is Sreem Kleem Hrom.
Please note that this is the Maharishi's mantra and it is for him to chant. The mantra we should chant is given below.
The Beeja Akshara of Garga Maharishi cannot be revealed in this kalpa, said Sathguru Venkataraman. So he will chant it within himself so that no one can hear it during his Arunachala Girivalam.
Here are the Siddha instructions given by Sathguru Venkataraman for Arunachala Girivalam on these two days:
Carry pomegranate fruits with you during your Girivalam on these two days and give them in charity on the completion of your
Girivalam.
Arunachala Girivalam on these two days is particularly important for:
- those who got married late in their lives,
- those who have been shunned or cast aside by their family and relatives and
- those who have been wrecked by some sudden happenings in their lives.
These people, during their Girivalam on these two days, should pray to their pitru ancestor beings and request their blessings.
This Girivalam is also important for those who have lost a brother or sister early in their lives.
Girivalam on these two days will help give their departed brother or sister enough punya shakti blessings for their life in other worlds.

Dec 4 and Dec 5, 2008:
Idhambavaaha Maharishi
On these two days, Sri Idhambavaaha Maharishi does Arunachala Girivalam for the sake of:
- those who have not followed any spiritual practices
- those who have ignored spiritual observances
- those who have ignored the worship of their kula devata (family deity)
- those who have not served God
- those who have not done any pitru ancestor worship at all.
Sri Idambavaha Maharishi will pray selflessly to the Lord during his Girivalam on these two days for the spiritual reformation of such people.
The Beejakshara of Sri Idambavaha Maharishi is Om Hreem Kleem Padhaha. He will chant this Keera Shakti Mantra during his Girivalam on these two days. Please note that this mantra is for the rishi. The mantra for us is given below.

The "thaaramadhi" mantra given above is the Keera Paavana Veda Shakti Mantra chanted by the Universal Mother Parvati Herself. These were the first beejaksharas that She uttered in the form of a parrot - a form She had to take after She had playfully closed the eyes of the Lord with Her hands.
Chant this Keera Pavana Veda Sakthi Mantra chanted by Mother Parvati Herself during Girivalam on these two days. Within 48 days after this
Girivalam, offer worship at the Keeranur Temple (Trichy - Pudukottai route) and also at the Keeranur Temple (Mayiladuthurai - Peralam route). Give fruits in chariry at both these temples. This
Girivalam and Keeranur worship, on the specific dates mentioned here, will help people get what is rightfully theirs but which has been delayed - money, inheritances, awards, prizes, felicitations and so on.
Dec 6 and Dec 7, 2008:
Udhaththiya Maharishi
On these two days, Udhaththiya Maharishi will do Arunachala Girivalam for the sake of the people of the world.
Udatiya Maharishi attained his exalted state by intense penance at the Thakkolam temple near Chennai.
Udhathiya Maharishi will chant
Om Sri Adiseshaaya Namaha
and
Sreem Kleem Subraaya Swaha during his Girivalam.

This is the Vicchakalpa Stuti Mantra - a mantra that packs the shakti power of many beejaksharas and offers this mantra shakti power as Sandha Santhaana Saantha Shakti to us. Use this powerful Sandha Santhana Santha Shakti Mantra given by Sathguru Venkataraman during your Girivalam today.
Sathguru Venkataraman also suggested that we should carry Nagapazham fruits and Nagalinga flowers during our Girivalam today. On the completion of
Girivalam, give the fruits in charity and offer the flowers to deities. During
Girivalam on these two days, offer (cow's) milk to birds and animals on the
Girivalam route.
Girivalam on these two days, in accordance with the Siddha instructions given by Sathguru Venkataraman, will help reform aggressive people who create enemies wherever they go because of their anger and hatred. The lives of these people are lived amidst lasting enmity. This is no way to lead a life.
Girivalam on these two days will help such people reform themselves and gain the respect of their friends, relatives and neighbors. It will help them receive love from others. It will also help the formation of good habits and good character.
Dec 8 and Dec 9, 2008:
The Great Lady Saint Gargi Maharishi
On these two days, the great lady saint, Gargi Maharishi, will do Arunachala Girivalam.
This great lady saint will chant the Traya Jyoti Peetambara Traya Beejakshara Mantra Kleem Kleem Kleem in the Pooja Lavanya Sabda Matra style that only Maharishis can use. Note that this mantra is for the Maharishi to chant. The mantra we should chant is given below.

Girivalam on these two days.
Sathguru Venkataraman also taught us that we should give vibhuti sacred ash, kumkuma vermillion, turmeric, sindoor and other auspicious substances worn on the forehead and also black collyrium for the eyes in charity during our
Girivalam on these two days. On these two days, we should also apply these sacred substances on trees and plants on the
Girivalam route.
What do we get out of this worship? Sathguru Venkataraman told us not to ask the Lord for anything during our Girivalam on these two days. So at least on these two days, let us not pester the Lord with our never ending requests and prayers and demands.
Dec 10 2008:
Pugalaga Maharishi and Hemakanda Maharishi
On these two days, Pugalaga Maharishi and Hemakanda Maharishi will do Arunachala Girivalam.
They will chant Kleem Hoom Phut during their Girivalam on this day.
This is a day of great atma shakti (soul force). Girivalam on this day is packed with much atma shakti.
While Maharishis can chant beejaksharas without Om, we humans must prefix our beejakshara chants with Om. The mantra we should chant is given below:

Sathguru Venkataraman told us that we should carry sugarcanes during our Girivalam today and give them in charity on the completion of our
Girivalam. This is in honor of Puagalaga Maharishi and Hemakanda Maharishi who use sugarcanes a lot in their worship procedures. If possible, conduct karumbu (sugarcane) kavadi worship with your family in honor of Lord Arunachala on this day. This worship on this day will protect the reputation of one's family from being stained. It is also a way of atoning for the sin of having disrepected elders with one's words and actions.
Those want to beget children offer a special worship for Arunachala. They create a cloth cradle held together with sugarcanes as poles, place babies in them and cary them around Arunachala's shrine in the big temple in
Arunachala and also on the Girivalam route. Such people should chant the Siva Kavacha Hymn, Saint Manikkavasagar's Adhisaya Pathu hymn and also the Kayilai Ulaa Hymn during their
Girivalam.

Girivalam on these two days can help:
- those who encounter lots of problems in their lives
- those who can't afford creature comforts but want them badly and
- those who are sad because of their "hand to mouth" existence, i.e., those whose daily subsistence is itself a problem.
Sathguru Venkataraman told us that we should carry honey in glass bottles or earthen pots during our Girivalam on these two days. (Do not use plastic containers or stainless steel or iron containers on these two days. Containers made out of metals other iron or steel are acceptable.) At the completion of our
Girivalam, we should offer this honey for abishekam in temples. We can also make dishes with this honey and offer the same in charity. What do we get out of this offering of honey? Sathguru Venkataraman taught us that this worship on these two days will get us the blessings of thousands of bees that gave us this honey in the first place..

Deepam Lighting Siddha Mantra
As we have said for years and also earlier in this article, 6 pm IST (12:30 pm GMT, 7:30 am EST, 4:30 am PST) on Dec 11, 2008 is the most potent, most auspicious, most spiritual time in all of 2008.
It is the time when the most holy Karthigai Deepam Jothi, the Ultimate Symbol of Divine Grace, will be lit at the peak of the Arunachala Hill.
If you are in Arunachala, watch the lighting of the Karthikai Deepam Jyoti.
But if you are not in Arunachala, please light your own Karthigai Deepam Jyoti oil lamps or ghee lamps in your home in honor of
Lord Arunachala, the greatest Jothi (light) and the source of all Jyotis (lights).
Wherever you may be, it is quite easy to light lamp jyotis to honor the Lord. Here is how you can do it easily:
- You don't even need a lamp to light a lamp jothi! You can make your own! Here is how you can make your own lamp jothi.
- Take a small bowl and fill it to three-quarters with sesame oil or ghee (clarified butter).
- What if you don't have sesame oil or ghee? No problem! It is easy to make your own ghee. Here is how you can make your own ghee:
How to make ghee- All you need is a few sticks of butter made from cow's milk.
- Place these sticks of butter in a heavy pan.
- Heat the butter at low heat.
- Stir every now and then.
- The butter will quickly melt into a yellow liquid. When the yellow liquid turns golden brown in color, your ghee is ready. Take it off the stove.
- Also, when the golden brown liquid begins to stick to the bottom of the pan, your ghee is ready.
- If you get a smoky smell or if the golden brown liquid turns dark brown, you have overcooked the ghee! To prevent this from happening, please do stay nearby stirring every now and then.
- This process takes around 20 to 25 minutes. Quite an easy process!
- Chant Arunachala's name or the Deepam mantra given below while you are making the ghee.
- What if you don't have wicks? No problem! It is easy to make your own wicks. Here is how you can make your own wicks:
How to make wicks- Take a piece of cotton. Place it in the palm of your hand. Place the other palm on top of this and rub this palm against the other. Repeat this process a few times and the piece of cotton will get transformed into a nice little wick.
- Roll a minimum of two wicks.
- You can of course use more than two wicks.
- On this day, it is a good idea to use five wicks.
- Place these wicks in the oil or ghee that you filled in the little bowl or in your lamp. Chant the Deepam mantra given below and light the wicks.
- That is all there is to it. It is that easy to light lamp jyotis in honor of Lord Arunachala, the Lord and Master of the Universe.
- You can learn more about lamp jothis and rolling your own cotton wicks in one of the early articles we wrote for this website. That article itself is based on a book published by Sathguru Venkataraman some 25 years ago.
