This sacred Ekadasi day occurs on a Saturday, both of which suggest that it is a great day
for worshipping Lord Sri Narayana.
But this day is also what is known as a Kari Naal, a day for solemn thinking about accumulated
kari doshas and their neutralization.
What are kari doshas? These are karmas resulting from wrong deeds that were committed knowingly.
For example, when one exploits another and commits harm to him knowingly, the end result is
kari dosha. When one fools another and defrauds him, the end result is kari dosha.
When one knows that what he is going to do is wrong but still goes through with it,
the end result is kari dosha. The worst form of kari dosha is that which results from acts of
treachery committed on those who have placed their trust in one. Kari doshas are hard to resolve.
One should think about what one has done, seek forgiveness and try to redress the harm that
one has caused. Only when the affected parties are fully satisfied with the redress can
one even begin to even think about neutralizing this kari dosha. So today is a perfect day
for solemn reflection. It is a day when one should confront oneself and come up with a plan for
rectifying the wrongs that one may have done. The Siddhas will help those who are serious about
this. Seek the help of a Sathguru.
How can one know if one has kari doshas that must be dealt with? The Siddhas have given many hints.
When rifts happen in families and amongst close relatives,
when there are serious losses, when one is not able to get back
money that has been loaned, when there are huge medical expenses, when there are unexpected expenditures,
when your clothes get burnt, when you get scalded by the exhaust pipes of your vehicles - these are
hints that one has kari doshas to be worked out.
The dreaded Shaniswara periods in one's life and the suffering in those periods
are a direct retribution for one's kari doshas. For kari naal is associated with
Lord Saniswara and it is given to him to extract payment from those with accumulated
kari dosha. This payment he extracts in the form of intense sufferings in the Sani periods
of one's life. Sometimes these sufferings can even result in untimely and ghastly deaths
since Lord Saneeswara also has the position of Ayushkaraka, the dispositor of life, longevity and death.
Lord Shani appreciates penitence. So in a totally penitent frame of mind, begin your
propitiation of Lord Shani. There are no shortcuts here. Lord Shaniswara is a hard taskmaster.
He is answerable to the Lord Himself, the master of all karma. No one can hoodwink Lord Shani.
Only your complete owning upto your bad deeds and utter supplication to Lord Shani can help.
So in a mood of humility and supplication, tell Lord Saneeswara
that you are ready to face the punishment that is due you. Lord Shaneeswara will then
accept your humility itself as a pooja offering and himself reduce the intensity of the punishment.
Keeping all the above under consideration, on this Ekadasi Saturday, offer worship to Lord Narayana and
Lord Saneeswara at temples where Lord Shani himself worshipped Lord Narayana.
For example, in the shrines of Kariya Manikka Perumal, Kari Krishna Perumal,
Kariya Maal Iswara, Kari Varadhan and so on.
Worship of Lord Shani, who is constantly engaged in the worship of their Lordships Vishnu and Shiva
is indeed something than all of humankind should aspire to.
So worship that Lord Shani who is engaged in Sivalinga worship at Cholapuram.
A particularly significant shrine for Kari Naal worship is the one at Echur near Vallakottai
which is near Chennai. There are two sacred ponds here: Ida Kari Theertham and Vala Kari Theertham.
Worship here is capable of resolving very difficult kari doshas, say the Siddhas.
Today is also the day when Budha (Mercury) moves into Karkataka Rasi (Cancer Rasi) from his
own sign of Mithuna Rasi (Gemini) where he is together with Sukra (Venus), the Guru of the Asuras.
So today is a good day to get the blessings of Mother Vidya Lakshmi through the auspices of
Budha and Shukra, one the intellectual and the other the teacher.
What is education? Education is what happens internally; it is what is internalized. It is
that is which is known in the inner being. It is not external. This is the real meaning
of the unseen Saraswati River. Mother Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge, learning and wisdom,
stays invisible to the human eye. Why? To draw us inward and make us understand that knowledge,
learning and wisdom are internal processes that work in four steps: learning, achieving clarity,
realizing, expressing the realization. These four stages can only happen under the guidance of
a Sathguru. But hard kari doshas make such realization almost impossible. Thus the need to
actively work on kari doshas.
Today is also Sarva Putradha Ekadasi. A good day for the worship of Santhana Ganapathi,
Santhana Lakshmi and Santhana Gopala and requesting from them the blessing of begetting
spiritually oriented children.
Worship them and offer four kinds of payasam
(kheer, sweet pudding) as neivedyam and distribute that prasad to the poor.
Kari doshas can stand in the way of begetting good
children and so this kari naal worship will work towards neutralizing those kari doshas
that are keeping one childless.
As the Sathguru has said on numerous occasions, abortion is a grave sin.
The grief of the aborted soul turns vehement against its own parents and assumes
a revenge seeking mode. This whirlpool can go on for generations, say the Siddhas.
So work towards putting an end to this grave sin of abortion by conveying this
message of the Sathguru.
Because it is an Ekadasi day, it would be that much better if you can observe a fast on this day.
The Sathguru has said that when one constantly thinks of the betterment of others,
the Siddhas constantly think about his betterment!
So do all worship as group pooja for the benefit of one and all.
Offer dense clouds of fragrant sambrani dhoop vapors in the shrines of Karupanna Swami and
Kariya Manikka Perumal, offer rice mixed with karuvepilai (curry leaves) powder and dark
grapes as neivedyam and distribute black and blue-black colored clothes to the poor without
any consideration of race, creed or religion. Involve others in this worship too and
make it a grand offering to Lord Narayana and Shaneeswara. This will melt the Lord's heart
and He will shower his divine grace on those who are in the terrifying grip of kari doshas.
Such is the worship on a Kari Naal day conjunct with Sarva Putradha Ekadasi, as advised by the Siddhas.
Such worship will get one safely on the road of kari dosha neutralization.
Put the Sathguru's message to use in your life. Share the same with others.
Remember the four stages: Learn, achieve clarity, realize, express the realization in daily life.
That is spiritual life!
