Greeshma Rithu
Aadi Maasam 22-nd day
Monday
Vishkamba Somashakti Pradosham
Om. Today is a Monday Pradosham day conjunct with Vishkamba yoga till 2:56 p.m. and Preeti yoga during the actual Pradosha pooja.
Today is a day of Sthira Shakti.
It is a day for making spiritual resolutions with determination; it is a day for solid spiritual practice.
During Vishkamba Yoga Pradosham, the Pradosham pooja in those temples where there are
Dwajasthamba pillars in front of the Universal Mother's shrines are special.
During Preethi Yoga Pradosham, worship in Saalara temples is special. A Saalara temple is one where the Lord's darshan is had
through several small openings (in a door or otherwise) in front of Nandeeswara. Lord Nandi Himself has the Lord's
darshan through these small openings. Examples include the Ganesh shrine at Thiruvalansuzhi,
Jambulingeswara at Thiruvanaikaval, Thiruvanmiyur, Maruthadu, Padi near Chennai, Perunagar near Kanchipuram,
Thiruverkadu near Chennai.
Worship at the Sri Indra Prasadavalli and Sri Purandheeswara temple in Maruthadu near Melmaruvathur is
very special for both Vishkamba and Preeti yoga Pradoshams, since in this temple there is both a Saalara
near Nandeeswara and also a Dhwajasthamba in front of the Mother's shrine.
Such a temple is infused with maya reducing energy.
In such a temple (where there is both a saalara and a Dhwajasthamba in front of the Mother's shrine), performing
adi pradakshinam during nitya pradosha time (1.5 hours before sunset and half hour after) gives
great spiritual merit.
Temples that have more than one Dhwajasthamba are ideal for worship on all Vishkamba yoga days.
The word Vishkamba has many meanings. It refers to man's spinal column. It also refers to
coconut trees and palm trees. On Vishkamba yoga days and Vishkamba Pradosham days, worship
at temples where the sthala vriksha is coconut or palm tree (Panaiyur, Panaiyapuram) is special indeed.
The Siddhas recommend worship at these temples for those suffering from back and hip problems at a young age.
In these days of never ending vehicular travel on roads full of potholes, even young men and women
seem to complain of back and hip trouble. The Siddhas, in their medical works, have recommended that people
should observe the reactions of their body to everything they do and everything they use, think about possible ill effects beforehand and
seek preventive action beforehand. Such is their scientific approach to caring for the body and soul.
Their solutions for both mental and physical ailments are spiritual and their medicines natural.
In some temples, there won't be a Dhwajasthamba, but there will be a high pedestal that serves as a platform for lamp jyotis.
These temples are also ideal for Vishkamba yoga worship.
On this day, sing Arunagirinathar's Thirupugazh songs and offer worship at Kambathu Ilaiyanar shrines.
Those in need of money and those expecting it from certain people for certain personal projects will
receive divine help that will take them closer to what they want.
Since their Lordships Sarabeswara and Narasimha often manifest their divine forms in pillars,
it ideal to worship such manifestations on Vishkamba yoga days,
Just like Sunday Rahukala pooja is special for Lord Sharabeswara, so also is Vishkamba Yoga pooja for Him.
On Vishkamba yoga days, perform 12 different kinds of abishekam for Lord Sarabeshwara.
The pillars in the Sri Paathaaleeswara temple in the Trichy-Thuraiyur route are filled with Vishkamba yoga shakti.
Worship at this temple on Vishkamba yoga days is special. After buying a new vehicle, let the first drive be to this
temple. Do pooja here and then begin using your vehicle.
During Preeti yoga days, worship at temples with shrines at multiple levels is ideal.
A good example is the Sirkali temple. In this temple there are shrines at three levels; Brahmapuriswara is at level one
and Sattai Nathar is at the third level in the Sirkazhi temple.
Such times at multiple levels are found in Uttiramerur and Thirukoshtiyur also.
The Vishkamba Yoga Pradosham is so special that
Dadici Maharishi took upon himself the vow of conducting Vishkamba Yoga Pradosham worship at those temples with Dhwajasthambas
in front of Ganesh, Muruga, Devi and Shiva shrines. He is an example to all of us. Worship at such temples on Vishkamba yoga
daya and during Nitya Pradosha periods everyday will result in a sthira manas (strong determination) in one's husband
and children and bless them with good jobs.
It is because of such Vishkamba yoga worship over many yugas that Dadici Maharishi
gained a preeminent position among rishis and got the spiritual shakti to protect people from back and hip problems and brain
and head related complications. This is important for orthopedists and doctors specializing in brain and head related ailments.
On Vishkamba yoga days, they should practice yogasanas seated on a mat of darbha grass. They should worship in temples with
many dhwajasthambas. They should perform abishekam pooja for the Dhwajasthamba in the Sindhupatti Perumal temple near Madurai.
If they observe this as a spiritual practice over an extended period of time, they will advance in their respective medical fields.
Those suffering from severe back and hip related ailments should offer worship on Vishkamba yoga days to Thiruvanmiyur Marundheeswara,
Thrithuraipoondi Bhava Oushadheeswara, Konerirajapuram Vaidyanatha, Srivilliputtur Vaidyanatha, Chennai Poonamalee Vaitheeswara,
Kalyanapuram Vaidyanatha (near Thiruvaiyaru). They should feed the poor and hungry with food mixed with vegetables like
murungai (drumstick), vellari (cucumber), pudalangai (snake gourd) and pirandai (Cissus quadrangularis), say the Siddhas.
On Vishkamba yoga days, sit in padmasana, keep your back straight, lift your hands straight up and look straight ahead. Practice this
Surabhi Vishkamba Yoga. If you think this is easy, try it for yourself. As said before, Vishkamba yoga days are Sthira Shakti days;
they are good for determined spiritual practice. Practicing this yogasana on Vishkamba yoga days will help one gain shtira shakti. There
are thousands of Surabhi subtle nadi channels in the body where punya shakti can be stored effectively. These are Siddha secrets.
These nadi channels get activated by deep, determined spiritual thinking, by regular pranayama practice, by doing Gayatri japam at dawn,
midday and dusk everday. Since most do not follow these spiritual practices, their Surabhi nadi channels remain deactivated and they
are not able to store punya shakti. To activate these nadi channels, practice the yogasana mentioned here on Vishkamba yoga days
and offer worship to the Sarabeswara, Narasimha and Kambathu Ilaiyanar deities that have manifested Themselves in temple pillars.
Offer worship to the countless Siddhas and Maharishis who are present in temple pillars by anointing their forms with oil and
decorating them five different pancha surabhi tilaks (vibhuti sacred ash, chandan sandalwood paste, kumkumam vermillion, manjal turmeric, sindoor).
On Vishkamba yoga pradosham days, it is a great blessing to hold the ceremonial umbrella above the Lord's form and to fan His divine form.
In these stambha shakti temples, offer garlands of sevvazhai (bananas with reddish skin) to the deities, particularly on
Vishkamba yoga days. Those who just can't seem to settle down with a steady job will be helped as a result of this pooja.
Tomorrow is a Thiruvonam (Sravana) nakshatra Pournami full moon day. It is also Hayagriva day and Mangala Gowri Vratham day.
Thus it is a very special day for vrata observance. Make a sankalpa! Make a firm resolve today that you will observe vrata tomorrow. Om
