Sukra Lakshmi Pada Kamala Go Sukta Pradakshinam

Mahaguru Sri Agasthiar Arunachala Om. This Sukra Vaaram, Thrithiyai thithi day is called Sukra Pada Thrithiyai.

Since Mother Lakshmi's divine feet have the power to grant the blessings of wealth, they are known as Sukra Pada Kamala.

Trithiyai thithi is an ideal day for worshipping Lord Trivikrama. In the divine leela of Lord Trivikrama, where the little Lord Vamana became the giant Lord Trivikrama, Sukracharya instructed his disciple and king Mahabali not to give alms to Vamana since it was actually Lord Mahavishnu who had come in that innocuous form. Though Sukra did this to protect his disciple, his advice amounted to obstructing Mahabali's giving (dhaana dharma). Sukra had to work out the bad karma resulting from this obstruction and based on the advice of Marichi Maharishi, he practised many austerities including intense worship of Mother Lakshmi in the seated posture. He did Gaja pooja and Go pooja (elephant and cow pooja) and because of this thapas was able to overcome his bad karma of dharma obstruction.

When Sukra (Venus) is in Poosam (Pushyami) nakshatra, like he is now, he adds akshaya (multiplying) shakti to many forms of wealth. This is because Poosam is an akshaya nakshtra. This can multiply the wealth of those with a well placed Venus.

Today is also an Aadi Friday (Friday in the Aadi maasam) and thus a Sukra Prakasa day. Today is a day that can bless one with wealth multiplication possibilities. Indulging in gambling, lottery, stock market speculation, betting on horses and similar fast cash obsessions is not conducive to spiritual life. While many lose money in these pursuits, those who gain money in these ways should realize this is ill gotten money. How to make up for this ill gotten money? On a Thritiyai Friday, they should offer six times the amount that they made through these pursuits in charity to the poor and the needy. This is Sukra Needhi, the law of Sukra.

Cows are the most spiritual of living beings. They are full of Sukra Needhi shakti and dharma akshaya shakti. Today, feed cows and calved to their heart's content and do pradakshinam of temples or girivalam along with them while chanting the Go Suktam. This is Sukra Lakshmi Pada Kamala Go Sookta Pradakshinam.

Amongst the special temples that should be circumambulated and worshipped with cows, calves and elephants is the Arasarkovil Sri Sundara Mahalakshmi and Sri Kamala Varadaraja Perumal temple (on the Chennai - Chengalpet - Padaalam route). A special place for Go pooja and Gaja pooja. Om.
