Viya Varusham
Greeshma Rithu
Aadi Maasam 28-th day
Sunday
Bhaskara Amrutha Netra Shakti
Sundays are days of creative energy when one is able to grasp and internalize spiritual truths.
Thus Sundays are particularly suited for spiritual practices.
Thankfully, for most people in this world, Sunday is a holiday.
This is just as well from the spiritual point of view.
People can use the entire day (or at least a few hours) for spiritual activities without work or job pressures.
A smart person will not waste Sundays. He or she will put it to good spiritual use.
Dharmaputra was such a smart person.
Since he was an adept at Surya worship, he was surrounded
and protected by a ring of Satya Dharma Prakasa Shakti.
Such is the power of Sunday and Soorya worship.
On this Panchami thithi Sunday, bathe the divine form of Mother Durga Devi with panchamirtha (pancha amirtha = five nectars,
a most delicious dish made with five different fruits) made using kalkandu (sugar candy, the raw form of sugar).
Lord Surya performed this worship and was blessed with the Akshaya Patra (vessel of never ending bounty) which he later
gave the Pandavas during their Vanavas time in the forest.
Every Sunday, offer worship to Vattaparai Amman, Vattathu Amman and other such forms of the Universal Mother.
The above mentioned Panchamirtha pooja on Panchami Sundays will bless you with Bhaskara Amrutha Shakti.
Bhaskara Amrutha Shakti and Chandra Amrutha Shakti together increase our netra shakti and bless us with
good eyesight. This is because the right eye = Soorya Shakti and the left eye = Chandra Shakti.
The subtle nadi nerve channels that serve the eyes are at the height of their activation on Sundays.
So, on Sundays, offer nungu (palm fruit), agathikeerai greens, carrot, atthi (fig) fruit, papaya and similar
netra shakti (eye shakti) foods as annadhanam to the poor and hungry. Eat only after you do this annadhanam on
Sundays.
Sundays are also good days for applying black collyrium (kajal in Hindi and mai in Tamil) medicinal ointment in your eyes.
Both males and females are advised to do this by the Siddhas. Also prepare this black collyrium very carefully with
ritual purity and offer it to Lord Narayana in Perumal temples on all Sundays.
Offer food and water to the crows, birds and squirrels everyday. Place this food in a clean plate and leave it on your terrace or
window sills. Mix ayurvedic herbs, churnas and bhasmas in this food offered to these birds and squirrels. This is everyone's daily
duty according to the Siddhas.
Mahaguru Agasthiar, the founder of the Agasthiar parampara lineage of Sathgurus, taught Lord Rama the Aditya Hridayam hymn on a Sunday. Chant this powerful hymn on all days, but particularly on Sundays.
Today is known as Pavazha Gnayiru or Coral Sunday. The Universal Mother Pavazha Kodi blesses devotees in the Keezh Soorya Moolai temple
(near Kumbakonam - Thugili - Thrailoki). In this temple, on Sundays, offer silver eyes to the Mother and gift silver toe rings (metti) to poor married women.
Those who are going through Sukra periods in their lives (Shukra dasa, Sukra bhukti, Shukra antara periods) will get be blessed with dhana suddhi
(spiritual purification of their wealth) as a result of observing this Siddha instruction.
On this day, offer help and assistance to poor and middle class people who have shaved their heads as an offering of their ego to the Lord at places like Tirupati, Palani, Samayapuram, Thiru Annamalai and so on.
