Conch Shell
Siddha Secrets and
Siddha Solutions
of Sathguru Venkataraman

"Sangu Mahima"

Over the past few decades, the Arunachala Siddha, Sathguru Venkataraman gave the world so many Siddha Secrets concerning the many different kinds of conch shells that we get from the oceans.

He spoke about them in his lectures and wrote many articles in his magazine about them teaching the world how to use them for spiritual upliftment. Thus there are numerous mentions of conch shells in his Siddha writings.

Not stopping with this, he made many of these rare conch shells available in his book store so that the lay public could have easy access to them for their personal worship.

In this article, we share with you some of these Siddha secrets that the Sathguru so generously gave to the world. We also give you a few page scans of the original articles from the February 2003 issue, December 2004 issue and a few other issues of Sri Agasthia Vijayam, Sathguru Venkataraman's monthly Siddha magazine.

More than 10 years ago, we placed in this English website of Sathguru Venkataraman the 108 conch shell honey abhishekam procedure of the Siddhas in Section 14 of Part 3 of Sathguru Venkataraman's brilliant Siddha Revelations on Lord Saraba. These procedures using conches should be practiced in one's personal worship.

Conch Shell SANGU used in our worship

India - The Spiritual Capital of the World

Why is India the spiritual capital of the world? It is because the holy land of India has been blessed with such immense spiritual treasures such as self-manifested (swayambu moorthi) forms of the Lord, incredibly powerful temple sacred spaces, sacred temple trees, moolika medicinal herbs, sacred rivers, temple towers and kalasams, kasturi, manjal turmeric, kumkuma vermilion and so many other powerful spiritual substances and countless powerful spiritual aids such as conch shells, rudrakshas and salagramas and so on.

Not just these, but the land has also been blessed with the presence of so many Siddhas and Maharishis who have taught us (and through us the rest of the world) as to how to use these spiritual aids effectively for our spiritual upliftment.

This is the reason why the very land of India is holy and thus gets the position as the spiritual capital of the world. And it is this holy land of India that can teach the world the Siddha Secrets of using conch shells in worship for the upliftment of humankind. 2

Conch Shell = Sangu = Sanku = Shankha = Shankh. Conches are referred to as sangu or sanku in the Tamil language, as shankh or sankh in Hindi and as shankha or sankha in Sanskrit.

Conch shells are avaialble in all seas, but very special yoga conches become available in the seas around the very special yoga land of India, as stated in Siddha Scriptures. 3

Conch Shells - Truth, Bhakti and Selflessness (Tyaga)

Conch Shell = Satyavati, the Embodiment of TRUTH (Satya), said Sathguru Venkataraman. People with names such as Satya, Satyavati, Satyavalli, etc. must do puja with conch shells daily. 3

Amongst the spiritual aids that promote bhakti (devotion), conch shells are at the forefront, said the Sathguru. 3

Conch shells, both idam puri (left) and valam puri (right), are physical representations of life forms that attained high spiritual states by leading selfless lives. 3

Conch Shells - OM, Mantras and Spiritual Purification

Within conch shells, the divine Om sound and many other beejakshara mantra sounds are always present. 1

Conch shells attract and absorb the celestial Veda Mantra Sabda sounds and present them to us. 1

If conch shells are used in a house in the proper spiritual way, the entire environment of the house can be purified easily.

Conch Shells and the Lighting of Jala Thala Yoga Jothi in the Oceans

Rather than thinking of conch shells as simple marine life forms, think of them as life forms that have JalaThalaYogaJothiShakti that humans don't have!

With this special shakti, these spiritual entities (that are in the form of conches) absorb jothi shakti from the planetary and star mandalas and light sookshma jala thala yoga jothis on Bharani, Krittika nakshatra days and Pournami Full Moon days and involve other marine life forms in their jyoti worship. 4

Shanka Taranyar
A Special Form of Shiva

There is a very special form of Shiva known as Shanka Taranyar. This form of Shiva is worshipped by all conch shell life forms and the spiritual entities associated with them. 5

Before using conches, one must follow the Siddha process of purifying conches. This involves worship of Shanka Taranya Shiva, Samudra Raja Deva and other ocean devata angels, worship using Sangu Pushpam flowers (that are shaped like a conch) and special Siddha mantras. 5

CONCH SHAKTI DAYS
Given by Sathguru Venkataraman

Sathguru Venkataraman taught us that Conch Shakti Days include Pournami Full Moon Days, Pradosham (13th thithi days), Panchami (5th thithi days), MONDAYS, Rohini and Thiruvonam (Sravana) nakshatra days. 6

Siddha Solutions using Conch Shells - Given by Sathguru Venkataraman

Here is an assortment of Siddha Solutions using conch shells given by Sathguru Venkataraman over the years in his monthly magazine.

Conches are spiritual aids that promote bhakti and spirituality. They are also spiritual solutions for removing many kinds of "doshas" (afflictions).

Placing vibhuti sacred ash and kumkuma vermilion in conch shells blesses the house with auspiciousness and gives longevity to the spouse. 5

Conches can give the blessing of truthfulness particularly to those in professions where lying is common, such as lawyers and judges. 5

Conch shells can reduce NEGATIVE VIBRATIONS in their vicinity and give steadiness of mind. 5

Sathguru Venkataraman said that a conch shell is Omkara Naadha Karuvoolam - a treasure chest of the original Omkara sound of the beginningless beginning. Thus blowing a conch shell even once can fill a place with Omkara Shakti - the power of OM, he said.

Blowing the conch shell is itself a good pranayama yoga practice, particularly if the special pranayama conch shell is used.

Regularly blowing the conch shell in worship can help one get rid of the urge to smoke.

The sound of OM can purify thoughts and it is this divine sound that fills a conch shell. Thus a conch shell helps purify one's thoughts, said Sathguru Venkataraman.

Conch shells must be sounded in earthquake prone places since the sound of conches is very dear to Mother Bhooma Devi (Mother Earth) who considers this sound as Bhookamba Shanti, i.e., pacifying earth tremors.

There are specific conch shells for specific worship procedures such as Vaastu conch shells, Shiva conch shells, Shakti conch shells and so on.

Conch shell worship is particularly dear to Lord Narayana who wields the conch shell. 12 different Abhishekams for Lord Narayana using 1008 conch shells and 12 different substances including cow's milk, honey, tender coconut water, sandalwood paste is a Siddha solution for resolving the anger and enmity in strained relations and establishing cordiality.

Abhishekam using 1008 conch shells in the Cholapuram Temple of Lord Shiva Kailasanathar and Mother SivaPoorani is a Siddha solution for reducing the mental worries that a mother has about her daughter's well being.

The worship of CONCH GANESH - Sangu Vinayaka - is a Siddha solution for lasting wealth: (1) Aishwarya (2) Sri Kubera wealth blessings (3) Mother Lakshmi's wealth blessings (4) Fulness in various sectors of life.

Chanting the Saptarishi sandalwood mantra given by Sathguru Venkataraman, do regular abhishekam to sandalwood sticks and the stone used for grinding sandalwood. This is a Siddha solution for breaking free from bad habits and addictions.

108 conch shell honey abhishekam for Lord Sarabeswara described in Section 14 of Part 3 of Sathguru Venkataraman's brilliant Siddha Revelations on Lord Saraba. This is a siddha solution for disease cures.

There are a lot more Siddha Solutions that we shall delve into later.

The Conch Shaped Temple Pond in the Managiri Shiva Temple

The sacred temple pond in the SriKandeeswarar Shiva Temple in Maanagiri (near Karaikudi) is in the shape of a conch.

RENOVATION of this conch shaped temple pond so that it becomes easily usable and accessible to the public for their personal worship preocedures will bless your progeny (children, future generations), said Sathguru Venkataraman. 6

During Pradosham times, offer garlands made of 108 or 1008 conch shells to the Lord here and do abhishekam with 108 or 1008 conches. Doing this here on Pradosham, Dwadasi (12th thithi) and Anusham nakshatra days is a Siddha solution for money problems. 6

A great worship procedure in the Managiri Temple is arranging for the sounding of 1008 conches, abhishekam with 1008 conches, and garlands of 1008 conch shells offered to 12, 36 or 108 cows in massive "Go" (cow) pooja worship procedures here. 6

Around this conch shaped temple pond, in each of the 8 directional points, place fresh banana leaves and on these spread 3 measures of rice. On top of the rice, place conch shells and fill them with water and then circle the pond and the temple. Do this especially on Conch Shakti Days mentioned earlier in this article. 6

Spiritual Integrity

In this Kali Yuga, we are forced to say the following, which we do with deep regret. Those who "lift" Sathguru Venkataraman's copyrighted original Siddha writings (in his Tamil magazine, books, blog and websites) have the spiritual responsibility of not hiding the original source of the Siddha wisdom they are "lifting" - examples include conch shell secrets and Shiva Shanka Taranyar, Jyeshta Devi, Tripura Samhara Prachanda Skanda, Ang Ung Sing and A U Si mantras, Aiyar Malai, Rudra Koteeswara, Vimala Linga, Nakshatra Temples, Vishnupati, Tharpanam secrets, Kala Bhairava and Time secrets, punugu, Sucharita Saraswati, Anuradha Kramana Saraswati, Indra Prasada Valli, Sundara MahaLakshmi, Keezh Soorya Moolai and a whole lot more. These folks must have the spiritual integrity to clearly cite Sathguru Venkataraman as the original source of the Siddha wisdom and provide a clickable link to www.Agasthiar.Org, the first website of the Sathguru.
