What actually happens in the sand blasting process?
Spherical metal objects in a chemical mixture are aimed at (the deity forms in) temple pillars.
In other words, the deity form is bombarded!
Now, ask yourself who bombards the deity? Only the asura demons do that.
Thus, sand blasting in temples is exactly the equivalent of what an asura will do, i.e., bombarding the deity.
IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO? ASK YOURSELF.
Do you want to do what only an asura will do?
Do you want to be equated to an asura demon? Ask yourself.
Do you want to get the curses of deities and siddhas for yourself and your future generations? Ask yourself.

Sand Blasting in Temples Destroys the Sanctity of Temples
By employing sand blasting, one converts a temple into an asura battlefield and thus
this process destroys the sanctity of temples,
which in turn begets a volley of curses from deities, Siva Ganas, Narayana Ganas, Devi Ganas, Siddhas and Maharishis.
The priests of those temples, the administrators of those temples, the people who suggested the idea that sand blasting be used, the businessmen who provided the sand blasting service, the people of the area in which that temple is located - all these people and their families will have to suffer the consequences.
As we have said many times, there is NO escape from the invincible hand of inexorable karma. Everyone involved will have to pay. There is NO escape.
The "Right Intention" Excuse Falls Flat on its Face
Having the right intention is of little use IF THE WRONG THING IS DONE.
If one has the right intention, but ends up doing the wrong thing, one has to pay for the wrong deed.
Thus, the "right intention" excuse doesn't hold any water.
This is why it is said that the guidance of a True Guru is important.
If one has the guidance of a True Guru, one will be guided far away from wrong actions such as sand blasting in temples.
Temple Pillars are Residences of the Divine
Sathguru Venkataraman points out that temple pillars are "residences" of Siddhas, rishis, deity forms and divine chakras full of beejakshara shakti and thus must be treated with extreme care and devotion. (A lot more to be written here on this important Siddha point, including photos. Stay tuned.)
Here is an example: Let us say you have a newborn infant in your hands. Think how gently will you handle that baby.
It is with that kind of soft, gentle hands that one must handle the deity form during the cleaning process, said Sathguru Venkataraman.
As gently as one would handle an infant's body.
Furthermore, Sathguru Venkataraman points out that chemicals, brushes and sharp objects MUST NOT be used in temple cleaning.
Will you use these on your newborn baby? No, you wouldn't.
Similarly, you MUST NOT use them on the deity form that is both in the shrine and on temple pillars, said Sathguru Venkataraman.
Siddha Methods
How then should temples be cleaned? By employing moolika herbs, grains and certain natural substances in Siddha methods such as: (1) Kaksha KaLimbu Kaappu, (2) Akshareettudal KaLimbu Kaappu, (3) Patsha Paadha Kaappu, (4) Mithru-Samhaarini Kaappu, (5) Akshaya Antharee Kaappu and so on.
Sathguru Venkataraman himself cleaned hundreds upon hundreds of ancient temples using these Siddha methods.
If you don't know the right way...
People who don't know the right way of cleaning temples should not try to clean temples since their mistakes will have very serious consequences.
Learn the correct way of cleaning temples before you embark on the cleaning process.
There is a LOT more in the page scans linked below. Read them (if you can read Tamil).
There is more (English translation) to come in this web page. Stay tuned.
