What does the word "chatra" mean? The commonly understood meaning of the word "chatram" is "guesthouse for pilgrims." But the word "chatram" also means umbrella. Chatra Seva for Lord Ganesh Gratitude and the Tender Divine Heart During the months She was kept captive, Mother Seetha Devi thought about how well Lord Shri Ram had cared for Her in the forest and how beautifully Lord Lakshmana had served Them both making Them feel as though They were in the palace in Ayodhya. Nava Natha Siddha Secret: How an Expression of Gratitude resulted in Great Spiritual Gain for us After Lord Shri Ram destroyed the asura demon Ravana and his cohorts, Mother Sita Devi was united with Him. Their Divinities, along with Lord Lakshman, visited many sacred spots on the southern coast of India such as Rameswaram, Mimisal, Theerthandadanam and others. One of these sacred spots is the little village of Ammanichatram. Accompanied by Mother Seetha and Lord Lakshman, Lord Ram, the ultimate Yogi, would do padayatra - pilgrimage by foot, an extremely powerful spiritual practice. But the sheer beauty of the seva and Mother Sita's tender divine heart overwhelmed Him and out of bhakti ecstasy, He cried out to Her: "Ammani!" This word means "most respected lady." The locals joined in and there were joyful shouts of "Ammani" addressed at the Lotus Feet of Mother Sita. Let them do it in fond remembrance of Her giving a celestial worship procedure of the Devas to humans of terrestrial earth." The Need of the Hour (1) Right now, pooja is done just once a day at this temple. Devotees should arrange for formal worship of Lord Sundara Kodanda Rama, Mother Sita, Lord Lakshmana and Lord Hanuman 6 times a day at this shrine at the 6 prescribed pooja times for each day. (2) "Kumbhabishekam" reconsecration ceremony should be done here as soon as possible.
