The Agasthiar Primer

The Vision of God

God can most definitely be seen and known. In fact, the very goal of life is to see God, know God and merge with God.

All of us came from God and all of us will reach God one day or another.

You can look up at the night sky and claim that there are no more stars than what your eyes can see. But if you look through a telescope, you will see stars that your naked eyes could not see. Likewise, just because your naked eyes cannot see God, you can claim that God does not exist. But that does not mean you are right. Use the right instrument, follow the proper procedure and you will see God.

What's the right instrument for seeing God? Divine love (bakthi) under the guidance of a Sathguru is the right instrument for seeing God.

It's easy to say, "I want to see God right here, right now." But you must ask yourself whether you're qualified to see God. For instance, you may want to meet the president of your country, but that doesn't mean you can meet him or her. If it is difficult to see your president, who is but a mere mortal, consider the stupidity in demanding to see God right here, right now.

There's a proper procedure for achieving any goal. An infant can't get a bachelor's degree. To get a bachelor's degree, one has to go through two decades of work. Most of us will agree that getting a bachelor's degree is not that difficult; it's in fact quite easy. But even for this simple goal, there's a well defined procedure that involves two decades of work. Imagine then the goal of reaching God, the very goal of life itself! There certainly is a well defined procedure for reaching God and if you follow this procedure, you will see God.
