The Agasthiar Primer

God is One

God is One. The Hindus call him Eesvara, Siva, Narayana, Rama, Krishna, Muruga, Ganesa, Devi, Sakthi and so on. Christians refer to him as the Heavenly Father and Muslims refer to him as Allah. All these conceptions are valid.

Respect all approaches to God. Don't say your approach is the only valid approach. If you say that, you are constraining God and that's ignorance. Every approach that's based on divine love is a valid approach towards God.

The God of the Hindus is the same as the God of the Christians who is the same as the God of the Muslims who is the same as the God of everyone else. God is One.

To say, "My God is better than your God," is ignorance. God is One.

Some say that Siva is God but Narayana is not. Some say that Narayana is God but Siva is not. Know that both Siva and Narayana are God. And so are Rama, Krishna, Muruga, Ganesa, Devi and all other manifestations.

All religions are religions of love. They appear different at the surface, but they are not fundamentally different because they are all based on divine love. Hindus love their Eesvara, Christians their Christ, Muslims their Allah and Buddhists their Buddha. The names are different, but the basis is the same.

All rivers end in the ocean. Likewise all religions end in God. The means of reaching God may be different, but the end is the same.

There are those who try to use religion for their selfish ends. There are those who commit atrocities in the name of religion. A scalpel can be used to save a life, but it can also be used to kill. However, we cannot implicate the scalpel if it is used to kill. Likewise, we cannot implicate religion if the selfish and the evil use it for their ends. Just remember that a true follower of a religion of love will neither be selfish nor be a fanatic.

Be steadfast in your beliefs, but don't be a fanatic.
