The Manifestations of Divine Love

Love manifests itself in action. All of us will agree that if we love someone, we don't just talk about it, we show it in action. We shower the object of our love with not just words but with gifts of all kinds. The beloved never leaves our thoughts. He or she becomes the centerpiece of our thoughts, words and deeds. This is not just true of human love but also of divine love.

God is the devotee's beloved. The devotee's thoughts, words and deeds revolve around God. This love of God manifests itself in two important ways:

  1. Service
  2. Meditation on the divine name.
The devotee dedicates his actions and riches in the service of the divine. The divine name is always present in his thoughts and words. He does this because God has become the focus of his life. God has become his beloved.

Divine love makes you serve God and meditate on his name constantly. As you serve God and meditate on his name more and more, your love of God deepens. This makes you serve God and meditate on his name even more. This further deepens your love for the divine. Thus love, service and the divine name work in concert and make you progress on the spiritual path. As this synergistic process continues, your love reaches perfection. When your love becomes perfect, you see God and become one with him.
